Thumbs up A Successful First Year for Garage

"The story of computing is epic. It’s driven by the human passion for tinkering, inventing and solving difficult problems where accidents and luck can be as important as brilliant engineering"

Many of us would have wondered why the name 'Garage' for us,number of Computer wizards/gurus had their starting at some car garage.Steve Wozniaki & Steve Jobs rise from garage to gigabyte was awe inspiring,Paul Allen & Bill Gates started building the Microsoft empire from a garage in Albuquerque and many more such cases.

We visioned 'Garage 4 Hackers' to always be an virtual garage where wannabe hackers, security researchers can hang around and use it as a launching pad for their careers. Our aim and motto was always to help, share, guide, innovate and shape the careers of individuals who want to take this path.So lets use G4H to tinker, invent, colloborate and solve difficult problems and produce some brilliant solutions.

For all who are new to the G4H, before G4H transforming into a full blown security community/forum in June 2010, we had a humble & slow beginning as an Orkut Community (Hackers Garage) http://www.orkut.co.in/Main#Community?cmm=26420310 wayback in Jan 2007.

Although we enjoyed the small yet cohesive community,we felt that the time was right to launch our own forum and break the limitations of orkut to reach wider audiences so we decided that going for a CMS solution like VB would be the best way forward. Before taking the plunge we did a lot of research - vital for anyone thinking of launching a security foum - and we were really impressed by the support and encouragement of all our members. Many of our core members spend nights migrating/importing threads from Orkut to VB.

Although things were tough at first,we started off with less than 5 active members.Today we have 800 odd members and 171 active members and really interesting discussions.I'm really confident about the future and there are very exciting times ahead and I know that the support we need will always be there from all of you and together we will make a difference. At the end of the what really gives us satisfaction is when someone says 'G4H really made a difference to my career'.

G4H has never been about an individual and never will be,its been a team and it will always be a team.I would like to put in special thanks to my Co-admins B0nd & WiPU and Core Team members/Moderators Fb1H2s,Godwin,neo,empty,prashant,anantshri,s1ayer, Ajay,Abhay,[S],DZZ,41.w4r10r,D4rk357 who have been the backbone of G4H and our senior members like beenu,Vinnu,Hackuin,webdevil,thats_all,steve_ron who have been a real inspiration to all of us here, shoutz and cheers to Nishant,Atul, mayjune, d4rkd4wn, karniv0re, silentph33r, keval_domadia, micr0, steve_ron ,sebas_phoenix,swatantra,Boris,goldshlager, d3c0d3r,MrGrey,sandeep,sh0bhit,rishab for their valuable contributions, suggestions and support.
Special thanks to null, prohack,AH and clubhack. Thanks to all passive members in the forum and sincere apologies to whomever I missed out.

Above all we would like to hear from all of you,its suggestions, feedbacks, critics that make us grow.

    Cheerz

    Happy B'day Garage

I have been a member of garage for the past two year. Have actively participated and learned a lot from Garage. And truly speaking, there is no such forum like ours and proud for it. Garage is like my second home and you all my family. Credit of what I learn goes to "vinnu" bro and Garage

Would like to say a big thanks to the trio:

    AnArki, b0nd, wipu

You all have been the pillars of garage. Humble as seniors, helpful at time of needs, you three simply ROCK !!! Cheers to the trio

Thanks to fb1h2s. Like "vinnu" bro, You've been a source of inspiration for youngsters like me stepping into information security arena. Your knowledge, passion and contributions not only motivated us but also showed us how sweet the fruit of hard work is. So cheers to you too!!

Thanks to neo sir, Hackuin sir, w3bd3vil, Anant bro, warrior bro, godwin bro and the evergreen the_empty() You've all been very kind and helpful to us.

Thanks to all Garage members. Together we will take Garage to new heights. Apologies to those whom I missed.

Happy bday G4H, it's been nearly 2 years I been to the forum and, garage is what that has shaped my carrier .

Why coz http://packetstormsecurity.org/search/files/?q=fb1h2s , if you check the files that I have submitted to packetstrom(security community) the first entry was on Jan 9, 2010 that means fb1h2s didn't exist before that.
I was an aimless person shooting at pointless targets, the only two good guys I knew were Beenu and Anil . And it was by the end of 2009 I came in touch with garge members in orkut. It was b0nd(my mentor) who took the initiative advising me followed by the rest of the crew, eby, wipu, neo, empty, godwin .

Later more and more great people joined garage, who was the whole source of inspiration , to name a few Vinnu, w3bdevil hackuin(whom I knew form AH) . And it was from this platform I came to know about other good people and platforms like Null, CH etc.

I am always thank full to the team and yes together we will grow.

What ..... really.... oh my god,,, its been a YEAR. ONE ENTIRE YEAR. BUNCH OF 12 MONTHS.

HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY BIRTH(START, INAUGURAL, OPENING and EVERY SIMILAR THING) Day Dear HACKER'S GARAGE

I have always loved being part of this place. You can learn from not only the articles, papers and tuts written, referred or linked by Garage members but also from all the amazing discussions and chats these guys have.

Like almost every one mentioned in all the above posts, I also started being ON GARAGE when it was Orkut community. I love Austin for he was the one who FOUND this place out, ANALYZED the contents and FIGURED it out at that time only that this is gonna be hour home from NOW ONWARDS.

Garage not only taught me tricks and techniques and all the cool stuff, they showed me the way to learn, importance of learning, sharing and pushing on and on and on.

It was always tough to be with guys like B0nd and Neo. They were like the strict teachers we have in schools. The DANGER ones. But those were the guys who made me understand that self-study is not only the most important element of hacking, but actually its the best part of hacking. It gives you immense pleasure when you FIGURE things out.

Anarki and Punter were like Google for me. You ask anything and they have the answers ready. But again they will never serve you anything cooked in the plate. You will receive the recipe and you have to cook for yourself. :P

FB1H2S, 41.w4r10r, Micr0, Darkest, Prashant_Uniyal, DZZ, Anantshri, hero of Garage the Abhay and other countless members, they joined, they learned, they taught, they shared and did everything which could take Garage to new heights.

Best part of Hackers Garage is you will find a little bit of yourself in every other member of Garage, you would want to be like them and be there for them and will understand that everyone feels the same way. This is all what we call The "Garage Spirit".

As I always say.... .Long Live Garage.

Also, its been a year now that we have started OFFICIAL Garage meets across Maharashtra state. Credit goes to 41.w4r10r for putting forth this idea.

Would love to see my kid posting something one on Garage one day.

Thank, Regards and Once again happy Birthday to everyone and to myself too -

    the_empty_parenthesis( )...

P.S. - Second Birthday will come even faster. No wonder with that. And we are gonna celebrate this day for sure ain't it 41.w4r10r.

    Happy Birthday to Garage,

Well I couldnt write lines and lines of long discriptions like anarki or the_empty.

Its good to be here. Was there from the begining days of Orkut Community of Hackers Garage, it was a great experience.

I have seen some members from the start, when they had started to become a Script kid and got flames, but they got evolved quickly. Learned all the things and are working as professionals in information security industry. Mind you doing great work for their respective companies.

Well as the_empty said I might have behaved strict to some of you, but when I felt soft words dont do the work, I had used the words which I felt would do the work. Lots of times WORDs did that

We all members will continue to share the Knowledge and keep reaching towards Knowledge 'Niravana' B-)

Thanks to Garage and thanks to those gems Garage contains.

Thumbs up Congrats & Thanks to all the members and well wishers!

I too would like to share my feelings and infact would go back to year 2007.

It was Nov. 2007 while I was in 5th Semester of MCA, already been placed in a s/w firm, but was looking for an opportunity in security domain. Those days it wasn't easy to find the local hackers. On typing "Indian Hackers" in google, hardly the results used to be relevant. "Ring of Fire" - Debasis Mohanty, "Indian Snakes - Yaha Worm", only these results I used to get those days. No local security forums, no active local irc channels. So overall it wasn't easy to find the like-minds.

Anyway, since I was looking for job opportunities, the idea of finding local orkut hacking communities and contacting their owners/moderators clicked to me. And that was the first time I came in contact with Anarki and "Hackers Garage". That time community was probably 10-11 months old only but had quality stuff and generosity is in the blood of the owner, Mr. Eby.
He helped me by arranging an interview with his employer. Though, being requirement was for an experienced guy, I wasn't selected for the opening but it proved to be the dawn of a new era for me. I found the first like-mind, down to earth, generous mentor for myself and even today he's my mentor.

Within next 1-2 months I got my break through into security and there after I sticked close to Garage and never left it.

Then came 2008 and we got two new, highly dynamic members: Godwin_Austin and the_empty! Both of them were quite naive that time and had a great zeal to learn. Garage started flourishing more with their arrival. We actually got two new curious minds...

Soon after them joined the great Punter. Garage got flooded heavily by his awesome posts and great shares. This guy is seriously a google database. If something is existing on internet, ask him and he'll surely get it for you. A great chap, a great friend and above all, a nice human being.
The time he joined Garage, he was already way ahead of combined technical knowledge of Godwin, the_empty and mine. Personally, I haven't seen any crazy person like him. Full of knowledge and yet very humble!

After him, joined our beloved Double_Zer0 (DZZ). He kept himself at a low profile and is a perfect example of the famous saying:
Always behave like a duck, keep calm and unruffled on the surface but paddle with a great vigor underneath"
He was never, and infact still not a regular member. But whenever he comes back, he strikes with some great script/technique/research/paper etc.

So this way Hackers Garage orkut community started growing gradually. Many guys joined and left. Later it was joined by few more great minds like Neo, fb1h2s, vinnu

fb1 is another crazy a$$$ hole. Damn constructive/destructive mind. His ideas travel far beyond what I could think of even in my dreams. His hacks are proofs for that.

vinnu, I was speechless the moment I came to know that we belong to same place and the mere thought of existence of a soul from that place with immense knowledge when resources were in abandon there. Dunno what he eats! Many of his posts are still bouncers to me. Thanks Prashant for introducing me to him.

My sincere apologize if I missed anyone so far.

Then came year 2010, and someone, some core member, came up with the idea to break the boundaries of orkut and launch a forum. Personally, I was bit reluctant in the beginning but fortunately we proceeded and eventually have grown well in very 1st year of forum.
Many great guys have joined since the forum has been launched last year. Thanks to all of you for devoting your time and energy and making Garage4Hackers a great place to share ideas.

We are growing, and together, we'll make the difference.

    Greets to all !
