m sure that some day or the othr u guys must hv faced similar problem wit our habit of
consistently typing ls instead of dir in command prompt.
this gave me and idea of getting al those nix commands to win.
while trying tis i found many methods on google, n one f thm ws dat u try out cygwin or msys.
well that workd pretty well coz of the precompiled binaries in it,
and suddnly some thing struck ma mind, how bout getting othr utilities too
so i fired up the cygwin setup again n this time dwnloadd nano, vi, and irssi.
this al ws just a traditional setup of getting the stuff to your system but to get it in command prompt,
a really childish trick shud b played.
goto ur cygwin install dir n inside thr thr is a bin folder,
just put this location out in enviroment variables list.
it works pretty good
aftr al u guys r on this forums u dnt require a step by step guide ryt, i guess u r capable enuf
but still i cant b harsh on our budding newcomers
so i hv put up a video on this explainig step by step
i have suggestion instead of installing cygwin one can simply go Index of /cygwin/cygwin_v1.3.2/bin
and download all folder content , put dem in c:\windows\system32 and thats it.(Note: U have to take ownership of your system32 or u can use live cd to copy these binary and DLL to system32 folder)
open ur command prompt c all linux command working ........................
well thnx for pointing it out, method provided by me and ur document was for beginners, ofcourse if ne1s gt experience in this can use your method.
your method is appropriate 1 without ne complications but fr some newbies it goes past thr brains. still thnx for ur rep it wil keep both type of users updated on this thread.
